Meet The Professional Redfish League Director

RON HENNE, JR -  TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR

Ron Henne, Jr., founder of the PRL and publisher of the popular Texas-based Saltwater Angler Magazine and Saltwater Angler Redfish Series, is the leader of the Professional Redfish League and the Redfish World Series. His Saltwater Angler Redfish Series was recognized by, and served as a qualifier for, the Redfish World Series since its inception in 2019. Ron leads the PRL charge.

A full-time Texan since 2002, living in Corpus Christi, growing up in Jacksonville, FL, Ron’s roots are Florida based. He is also still an active participant in many professional redfish tournaments in Texas and Louisiana and was the winner of the IFA Port Aransas event in 2015.

When not running tournaments, Ron works as a field service technician in the oil fields. He works closely with small manufacturers and business owners on advertising campaigns and marketing strategies, and always takes the time to build meaningful relationships with his sponsors and anglers. His honesty and integrity in all things, as well as, his philosophy of always “giving back” create sustained value in everything he touches.

2027 Pro Division Details

Tournament Fees

  • $1,000 Registration per event <or>
  • $3,000 Pre-Pay Registration Package (covers 4 events and saves $1,000)
  • $250 Big Fish Side Pot
  • $250 Calcutta Side Pot

Tournament Format

  • Two-person teams
  • One-Day Events
  • Artificial lures only
  • Three (3) slot redfish stringer

Team of the Year (TOY) & Redfish World Series (RWS) Eligibility

To be eligible for Team of the Year and the Redfish World Series, teams must register for the $3,000 Pre-Pay Package during the registration process and identify the four events they anticipate fishing during the season.

Please Note: Teams enrolled in the Pre-Pay Package may fish additional PRL events beyond the required four. Those additional events will be offered at a discounted registration rate of $750 per event. 

Team of the Year (TOY) Format


TOY standings will be determined using each team's best four tournament finishes, plus their standings after the first two competition days of the 2027 Redfish World Series.

To qualify for TOY, teams must:

  • Compete in a minimum of four PRL regular-season events
  • Compete in the 2027 Redfish World Series
